Current position
He is professor of hematology and head of the division of hematology and hemostaseology at the Medical University of Vienna.
Education
After Prof Ulrich Jäger obtained a university degree in General Internal Medicine of the University of Vienna with specific specialization in hematology/oncology, he gained further experience in this field performing several scientific projects. At the Washington University, under the supervision of Prof Korsmeyer, he was mainly interested in the molecular biology of lymphomas. As the group leader of the division of hematology at the University of Vienna, he took part in numerous scientific projects concerning the molecular biology of leukemias and lymphomas and the mechanism of chromosoal translocations, and he performed several clinical studies in Minimal Residual Disease (MRD) in lymphomas and leukemias.
Other activities
He is a member of the Austrian Society of Hematology and Oncology and the Austrian Society of Medicine as well as a member of the American and the European Society of Hematology.
