Current position

Thomas Szucs is Professor of Medicine and Head of the Medical Economics Department at the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine of the University of Zurich, as well as Co-Chairman of the European Center of Pharmaceutical Medicine at the University of Basel.

Education

Thomas Szucs studied medicine at the University of Basel, and economics and business administration at the University of St Gallen. He also studied for a Master of Public Health at the Harvard University, Cambridge MA, USA and received a Master of International Business Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Zurich.

Other activities

He is member of the editorial board of many international journals and numerous European and Swiss societies. He is also a member of the Ethics Committee, University of Zurich, for research projects in special disciplines and of the hospital board (Spitalrat) Kantonsspital Altdorf, Uri, Switzerland, as well as President of the Swiss Foundation for the Early Detection of Lung Cancer.

He is the author of more than 300 publications, books and book chapters.
